Free Use
- How is this possible?
Do you want to use our music on TV or Radio? You'll be glad to know that you don't have to pay us a single penny for a synchronisation license.
Sugartrax offers a waiver of synchronization fees to any licensor that intends to use our music in a broadcast medium for which PRS, ASCAP, BMI and other PRO's will compensate us.
We receive financial compensation from Performing Right Organisations whenever our music is broadcast on:
You'll be doing us a favour the more you use our music - provided you submit cue sheets of course. Otherwise the PRO wont know how much of their collected monies are owed to us.
The Performing Right Organisations charge blanket license fees to broadcasting networks (such as MTV, Sky, Fox) and give a portion of the proceeds to the music composers. This is how we derive our income so it is very important that you supply accurate and honest cue sheets every time you use one of our songs. If you dont, we wont get paid and then we cant offer free music.
We submit this information to the PRO on your behalf. This means that if you are a production company that creates a title sequence for a television programme you wont have to pay a thing. The same would be true if you were producing a radio commercial or jingle.
For those using our music on websites, music on hold systems and public spaces the relevant PRO for your area will contact you directly to obtain a legal broadcast license if you dont already have one in place. You can also purchase broadcasting licenses very cheaply direct from the PRO's yourself to save time. Once you have that license in place feel free to download and use as many of our songs as you like.
By agreeing to these terms you warrant that you will provide accurate and honest information regarding the exact usage of our music before downloading any sound files from our site.
The fees for such licenses vary from country to country but here is an example from PRS in the UK.

Not for Free Use
If you wish to use our music in a medium that does not allow us to collect revenue from broadcasting license fees you will need to purchase a mechanical license directly from us.
Such mediums include DVD productions, CD-ROM's, Video Games, Software and private corporate presentations. Just choose the "Mechanical" licensing option
to purchase a license directly from us based on your exact requirements. |
